When God Asks For A Simple Yes: How One Couple's Obedience Built A Community Of Christian Businesses

For Jordan and Madalyn Rohr, it began with a question they couldn't shake.

Why was it so difficult for Christians to find and support businesses owned by fellow believers?

As entrepreneurs themselves, the Rohrs often searched for faith-based businesses to patronize. Again and again, they discovered that Christian business owners were serving their communities faithfully, but many people simply didn't know they existed.

The idea lingered.

Then it became something more.

A Nudge That Wouldn't Go Away

Madalyn says she felt God repeatedly bringing the issue to her attention.

"There are so many incredible Christian business owners serving their communities, but many people don't know they exist," she said. "At the same time, there are believers actively looking for businesses that share their values."

As she prayed about what to do, she realized God wasn't asking her to solve every problem.

He was simply asking her to take the next step.

"I didn't feel like God was asking me to have all the answers," Madalyn said. "I felt like He was asking me to be obedient. Building the directory was simply what obedience looked like."

That simple act of faith became the foundation for what is now Christian Businesses Group, a growing platform designed to connect customers with Christ-centered businesses while helping Christian entrepreneurs build relationships and community.

Business as Ministry

Jordan and Madalyn know the challenges entrepreneurs face because they've lived them.

The couple owns multiple businesses, including Rohr Food Group, home to brands like Freeze Bites and Bertrand's Cajun Seasoning, as well as Music City Bag Company.

Along the way, they discovered that entrepreneurship can sometimes feel lonely.

That's one reason they believe Christian business owners need one another.

"We believe business can be a ministry," Jordan said. "Every interaction is an opportunity to reflect Christ. When believers support one another, collaborate and encourage one another, everyone becomes stronger."

What started as an online directory soon became something much bigger.

Business owners began connecting. Partnerships formed. Referrals were shared. Friendships developed.

A directory was becoming a community.

More Than a Website

As the network grew, the Rohrs felt led to create opportunities for people to connect face-to-face.

That vision led to an event called Meet The Believers Behind The Businesses.

The gathering gives customers, families and entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet the people behind local faith-based businesses, hear their stories and build meaningful relationships.

Guests will enjoy food, live music, product demonstrations, giveaways and family-friendly activities while learning about businesses throughout the community.

"Our hope is that people leave having discovered a new favorite business, made meaningful connections and experienced the sense of community that can happen when believers come together," Madalyn said.

The Power of a Simple Yes

Looking back, the Rohrs say the journey has reinforced a lesson many believers know well: God often asks for obedience before He reveals the outcome.

"God often doesn't provide the entire blueprint before asking us to take the first step," Jordan said. "Sometimes He simply asks for a willing heart. We've seen Him do far more through our small 'yes' than we could have ever accomplished on our own."

Their story serves as a reminder that God can use ordinary people who are willing to follow His leading.

Sometimes a calling begins not with a detailed plan, but with a simple yes.
